After earning its first International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification for quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015) in late 2022—marking an important achievement for the organization in its efforts to continuously improve performance and uphold its commitment to quality assurance—MELE recently underwent and passed a surveillance assessment to ensure compliance with ISO’s rigorous certification standards.
Third party auditor TCB Audit Services (TCB) conducted the surveillance assessment. The ISO standards include initial certification, surveillance assessments, and recertification assessments. TCB assessed MELE’s level of management system compliance against ISO standards, examined the system’s ability to meet applicable statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements, and identified areas for potential improvement.
TCB identified zero Corrective Action Requests (CARS) and found “…no significant issues impacting the audit program…and the audit objectives have all been fulfilled appropriately.”
Compliance Support Analyst Michael Katz coordinated MELE’s response to TCB’s audit requests. The internal team included MELE’s President, Al Chiogioji; Chief Legal Officer, Kimi Murakami; CFO Janice Gordon; Chief Operating Officer Greg Hansen; Human Resources Director Evelyn Waters; Director of Contracts Barbara Freland; VP, Information Technology Ron Colbert; VP Carrie Phelps; Project Controls Manager Troy Witmer, and Proposal Manager Dawn Vignola.
