Meet Tony D.C., a MELE Senior Program Analyst that works within the Department of Defense. His work focuses on nuclear survivability. Tony manages various policy instruments and inter-department working groups that govern this problem set.
Prior to joining the MELE team in 2023, Tony worked with the Bureau of International Security & Nonproliferation at the U.S. Department of State, as a Merchant Mariner, and for the Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Before all this, he served in the Army and came into federal service as a Presidential Management Fellow.
Tony shared what he enjoys about the work he does and being part of the MELE family: “The work community I’m part of is not huge, but it is very collegial. I’m surrounded by very smart people, so I like to think I’m getting smarter every day by osmosis. I also enjoy the level of support I get from my manager Susan Bowers through regular check-ins. I know she has my back and is always true to her word. This frees me to focus entirely on the job.”
“I am excited to recognize Tony! His unwavering dedication, hard work, and leadership in driving key initiatives within the Nuclear Forensics, Energy, and Survivability team, has been nothing short of superb. Tony’s contributions significantly add value to the team, and his commitment to excellence sets a remarkable example,” stated MELE Vice President Susan Bowers.
Tony grew up in Florida and spent most of his pre-military time living in Southeast Asia where he taught English and enjoyed surfing. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his young children, landscaping, building things, and lifting weights.
