Meet Andre J. who joined MELE as a Senior Contracts Administrator in October 2023. Prior to joining MELE, Andre worked as a Digital Assets subject matter expert for the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) where his focus was on blockchain technology. His background includes federal consulting, commercial consulting, alternative investments, and experience across a host of different finance roles. Andre received his BA in English from Morehouse College and his MBA from George Washington University.
As Senior Contracts Administrator, Andre’s core responsibilities include managing the record-keeping and documentation process for all contract modifications across all contracts, managing the contract-closeout process, and helping to steer select IT-related projects associated with internal applications and the Contracts Department.
“Working in the Contracts Department provides you with a detailed understanding of MELE’s core business and different areas of focus; my role gives me a view into the different types of work MELE does, which is interesting,” he shared.
“I really enjoy working with the contracts team and I like the conviviality of the Rockville office,” he added.
“Andre is a fantastic addition to the contracts team. He has been here only a brief time, but he has had big impact,” stated Director of Contracts Barbara Freland. “His experience, skill, and background complement the rest of the contracts team and has helped us take our performance up a level. Andre is a great fit and continues to be an asset to the team.”
Andre lives with his wife and son in Rockville, Maryland and he really enjoys Korean BBQ, Japanese BBQ, American BBQ, and Brazilian BBQ. Andre’s favorite food? You guessed it, BBQ.
Both of Andre’s parents were in the military. He was born abroad and has grown up all over. His last stop prior to heading off to college was Woodbridge, Virginia, but his favorite hometown so far is the DC Metro area because of the variety of things to do.
Andre’s favorite thing to do on the weekends is spend time with his wife and son. He loves everything soccer, including kicking around the soccer ball with his son every chance he gets. Andre also enjoys outdoor fitness activities and exploring the Montgomery County food scene. He is also involved in his community where he works with youth in a variety of capacities and also helps support his wife’s local Capoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial arts) organization.
