MELE’s Phelps and Cammarata Earn Promotions

MELE’s Phelps and Cammarata Earn Promotions

Rockville, Maryland, July 31, 2024—MELE Associates, Inc. (MELE), a veteran-owned, minority-owned small business with more than three decades of success in the government contracting space, announced today that it has promoted Carrie Phelps to Senior Vice President and Deanna Cammarata to Vice President.

Phelps has been a valuable member of the MELE team for nearly 20 years. She is an experienced, trusted subject matter expert in a host of disciplines, including program/project management, project controls, project finance management, budget development and execution, auditing, financial analysis, cost accounting, proposals, contracts and financial reporting.

In her new role, Phelps will oversee process development standardization across functions, including Quality Assurance, Standard Operating Procedures, ISO standards compliance, and technology integration. She will also, among other business critical responsibilities, oversee communication among project managers/coordinators, the Vice President team, MELE’s back-office, teaming partners and customers to ensure deliverables and task orders are completed efficiently and on time. She will also play an essential role in building key relationships and ensuring seamless operations.

“Carrie has deep institutional knowledge of how MELE works and has an intimate understanding of the complex mechanics of government contract work. In her new role, this experience will empower her to be an outstanding liaison for our internal and external teams, teaming partners, and customers. This role is perfectly suited to Carrie’s considerable abilities and will enhance MELE’s performance across functions,” stated Greg Hansen, MELE’s Chief Operating Officer.

Cammarata has also been an essential contributor to the MELE organization for more than two decades. Her first stint with MELE began in 2000, and after a short hiatus, she returned to MELE and has been with the organization ever since. Cammarata has extensive knowledge of federal procurement regulations, and she is an outstanding leader that deftly facilitates subcontractor work and dynamically manages projects operating in complex and often rapidly evolving environments.

In her new role, Cammarata will manage several Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration contracts, including those with the Office of Nuclear Incident Response (NA-‑84) Operations and Exercises program (OPX), the Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST), and the Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation (CTCP). In addition, she will collaborate with the management team on Quality Assurance, strategic planning, market analysis, and performance tracking initiatives, among other important responsibilities.

“Deanna is the consummate collaborator and a gifted, agile leader. Like Carrie, she has had a long, exceptional tenure with MELE that has shaped her leadership style and enabled her to balance the big picture with a unique ability to keep her project teams focused on the smaller details that, when managed skillfully, roll up into major contract successes,” shared Hansen.

“I’m proud to call Carrie and Deanna my colleagues, and the entire executive team is excited to see what they will achieve in their respective new roles. These promotions are not only well-deserved, but they also reflect MELE’s significant growth over the past few years,” he added.
